7 Reasons to Avoid Living in the Caribbean

When we think about the Caribbean, the first image that comes to mind is that of Eden. You see yourself lying on the beach, sunbathing and refreshing your body in warm waves or enjoying your favorite drinks under the palm trees. It seems that such a place cannot have disadvantages. Who wouldn’t dream of spending the entire life there?
However, reality is different. Let us give you 7 reasons why living in the Caribbean can be unbearable.

1. Total isolation
Imagine your life on an isolated island where your possibilities to travel are very limited. Life on the Caribbean Islands will be absolutely different from that people usually live elsewhere. Continental life is not as lonely and much more varied: there are more places to visit and more people to meet. Being trapped somewhere far away from civilization is not the nicest feeling. You might miss culture since on islands there are fewer entertainment facilities, such as cinemas, theatres and galleries.
2. Legions of insects
The Caribbean is considered to be paradise not just by people, but by millions of bugs as well. You will get trapped in a place swarming with mosquitoes and insects 24/7. Mosquitos, spiders, cockroaches, ants and sand fleas are everywhere. All those annoying bugs will kill you before you kill them. The only way to protect yourself from the bites is to apply special creams and gels. Or, if this option is not for you, simply leave the islands for a new location.

3. Poor infrastructure
Do you need to send e-mails, deal with business partners, solve, legal and financial issues? Forget it! Here the time flows very slowly and you need to learn patience. In the Caribbean you must be patient and keep on waiting, because the Caribbean bureaucracy is never in a hurry. It might take ages to solve even the most insignificant problem.

4. No Privacy
It is hard to keep your personal life private since the territory is tiny. Everyone wants to know about you and your family. If there are a couple of people aware of your private life, it will not take long before the rest of your neighbors find out about you. So if you like privacy and hate being rumored about, avoid moving to the Caribbean.

5. Troublesome shopping
You may experience a lot of inconveniences while shopping for the most essential items and products. Here shipping is poor and you may pay huge delivery fees for your items ordered online. You may wait for them for ages. If shopping is your passion, then this place will turn your life into real nightmare!

6. Surrounded by tourists
You cannot avoid bumping into numerous crowds of tourists. Be prepared to answer thousands of stupid questions. Your best-loved places on the beaches and cafeterias will be occupied by tourists. Despite the fact that the Caribbean is a tourist destination for people to enjoy, you will hardly have enough time to relax.

7. Extremely hot weather
When you go for a walk you get rivers of sweat running down your spine. Your clothes are wet and sticky. Wherever you go you carry around a bottle of water to stay hydrated throughout the day. This happens due to the high temperature and humidity. If you find it difficult to live in humid, hot, sultry weather conditions, then this location is definitely not for you.
